The Bryant Model B+ is designed for high-production, high-precision work.
The machine bed cabinet is of space frame construction allowing space
inside the cabinet for a roll-out hydraulic power unit and roll-out
coolant tank.
The platen, slide carriages, and other major components are all made from
stress relieved cast iron. Cast iron provides excellent vibration dampin
g
and thermal stability.
The axis slides are supported by hydrostatic bearings on dual round slide
bars. Advantages of hydrostatic bearings include virtually zero friction
,
vibrating damping, low maintenance and long life.
The control is a GE Fanuc 18i Series CNC with PC front end. The Fanuc CNC
has proven reliability and extensive service and spare parts availability
.
The CNC includes Bryant/VMT's new "REVELATIONS" grinding software that wa
s
developed for flexability and ease of programming.
The machine guard completely encloses the work area. Sliding section and
lift-up guards allow free access to the work area. This guard also
virtually eliminates coolant and mist leakage.
The wheelheads are Bryant ball bearings spindles. Our spindles are high
frequency, water-cooled. The shaft is supported at both ends with cerami
c
hybrid, ABEC Class 9, angular contact ball bearings. The fixed front
bearing cage and sliding rear bearing cage minimize the effects of axial
thermal spindle expansion.
The CNC Slides are powered by linear motors. Linear motors eliminate
dozens of moving parts and provide friction-free slide operation.
