This system works by straightening and cutting to length .128" dia
meter coiled wire.
The wire length that is approximately 20 feet long is pushed through an
induction heater
with an infrared camera feedback that controls the wire temperature. J
ust after the
induction heater the wire is guided between two rolling dies that rolls
the wire into balls.
This process is very similar to rolling threads except instead of rolli
ng threads these dies
roll balls and also separate the steel balls from each other. This mac
hine at top speed
will produce approximately 3200 1/8" balls a minute.
The PLS controls the rolling die speed, induction heater wire temp
erature set point,
wire rotary straightener speed and wire feed roll speed. With the A/B
T30 the wire
temperature, die speed, and etc can all be logged on screen.
With different rolling dies this machine could roll a whole variety of
parts.
