SPECIFICATION SUBJECT TO VERIFICATION
Note These automatics are ideally suited for simultaneous machining
of workpieces from several sides. Based on a tradition of
decades
in the building of similar machines, this logical further
development permits economical machining of mass-produced
components which can arise in the form of castings, forgings,
bar sections, estruded pressings, etc.
Rotating tool spindles carry the cutting tools generally
combined
into tooling groups. Main rotary and feed movements are
produced by the tools fitted to the tool spindles whilst
workpieces index
from tooling group to tooling group. It is thus possible to
accomodate asymetrical, awkward component shapes and as
workpieces are stationary they can be located closely against
each other and can even overlap. The indexing drum, well-known
from its application to multi-spindle automatics, thus only
carries the clamping facilities on these automatics also carry-
ing out the indexing movement.
To establish suitability for given applications, please note that
the spindles can be used optionally for turning, boring, etc.,
or for threading whilst each spindle can also rotate at a
different speed, It should further be noted that by resetting
the indexing drum angle of rotation from 60 to 120 degrees, two
components can be machined simultaneously on several faces. On
components requiring horizontal machining from one side only,
4 components can be handled simultaneously with 120 degree
indexing. The 400 permits similar machining combinations.
