QUINTAX SPEEDMILL 5510 MACHINE
SPECIFICATION
MACHINE FRAME
The machine frame is constructed of heavy gauge structural tubing in a unitized all welded design for maximum rigidity. The frame is equipped with leveling feet and anchor bolt positions. The machine is equipped with a set of sliding doors with safety interlocks to isolate the machine interior from the surrounding work area.
TABLES
Each table and frame is constructed of structural angle and tube and has a 19mm(.75") aluminum top plate with a ½"-13 on 12" threaded insert pattern. Each table is servo powered and is driven by a rack and pinion gear system. The tables can be operated independently or as one 5' x 1O' unit.
BRIDGE
The moving bridge spans the table dimension and provides carriage travel along the X-Axis. The bridge is equipped with an AC brushless servo system direct coupled to a low backlash gear reduction unit driving a hardened steel pinion gear. The bridge is all welded and stress relieved .The bridge axis motion system is enclosed by a protective cover to minimize ingress of dust and debris.
CARRIAGE
The X/Z-axis carriage is manufactured with a precision ground back plate and 30 mm(1.18") linear rails. The Z axis is driven by an AC brushless servo motor direct coupled to a precision gearbox with a hardened output pinion. The bridge-to-table surface clearance allows full envelope cutting as measured from the collet face. The Z axis is equipped with a pneumatic safety brake in the event of a sudden loss of electrical power or mechanical failure.
GANTRY
The Y-axis is constructed of heavy rectangular structural tube. The system uses 30mm(1.18") linear bearings for supporting the weight of the bridge and carriage assembly. The bridge is transported on the X-axis via a precision rack and pinion utilizing a AC servomotor and a drive reduction system.
CNC CONTROL:
The machine is equipped with a CNC control installed in a NEMA 12/IP 66 enclosure that is mounted on heavy duty pendent arm with 180 degrees of travel.
Fagor 8070 CNC. The 8070 is PC based running on Windows XP Industrial, and comes standard with a 900 MHZ processor, 512 MB of RAM memory, 8 GB of flash memory, 10.4" color LCD monitor, kinematics management, RTCP, Ethernet connection, USB connection and 4 execution channels. The system is networkable and can execute and edit third party software at the CNC
AC DIGITAL DRIVE AND SERVO SYSTEM
The machine is equipped with Digital Servo Drives that utilizes built-in regenerated braking, high speed digital serial interface CNC display parameter set-up and AC brushless servo motors with 16,000,000 pulse/revolution. All servo motors are EPROM ready which allows for quick recognition of setup parameters after a motor change and are also absolute encoded which provides increased positional accuracy while eliminating the need to home the machine axis's.
SPINDLE-A/C AXIS
The machine is equipped with a 9.6 (S1)/12.2 (S6) HP liquid cooled, 24,000 RPM, HSK63F automatic toolchange spindle. The spindle utilizes ceramic angular contact bearings for shaft support. The spindle comes standard with a pressurized front seal and sealed lubrication. A closed loop chiller/heating unit rated at 11.4 LPM/3GPM is included. The spindle is controlled by an AC inverter with a DC injection and integrated braking resistor for decreased spindle stop times and increased operator safety. The spindle is also equipped with a Spindle Rotor Motion Detection System to prevent accidental tool changes while the spindle is still turning. The C axis is driven by a AC brushless servo motor direct coupled to a precision gearbox. The A axis is driven by a low profile, zero backlash harmonic drive. All components of the A/C axis assembly are mounted on a precision machined cast aluminum pitch housing.
TOOL CHANGE SYSTEM
The machine can be equipped with an 8 station rack style tool changer attached to the bridge for rapid tool change operations. An integrated automatic operating cover and air blow system reduces dust accumulation on the tool holders.
TOOL MEASUREMENT PROBE (Optional)
The machine is equipped with a touch probe for the measurement of too! length and tool diameter. This system can be utilized for both initial tool setup and broken tool detection. Data indication can be set up for manual entry or automatic part program compensation.
LUBRICATION
One central lubrication system dispensing heavy-duty way oil is capable of automatically lubricating all ball screws for continuous preventive maintenance operation. A low-level lubrication switch is integrated for quick indication of reservoir refill. The system includes low voltage safety operation, easy service bracket mount and PAL programming to display warning message.
SAFETY SYSTEM:
The machine is supplied with 4 red mushroom style emergency stop buttons, two on the interior of the machine, one on the CNC panel and one on the operator handwheel. Activation of any one of these emergency switches stops machine motion and the spindle in approx 2-3 seconds. The emergency stop system is a discreet double channel system meeting NFPA, UL, CSA and CE standards.
Reactivation of the machine is a two step process requiring a cycle start command at the CNC panel. The doors on the front of the machine are safety interlocked to prevent entrance to the machine interior during a run cycle.
MACHINE ENCLOSURE
The machine is fully enclosed on 3 sides with heavy gauge sheet metal panels. The front of the machine is accessible through a set of automatically operated, electrically interlocked sliding doors equipped with large acrylic viewing windows. If the machine is equipped with the dual operating zone option, one door set can be open on the inactive zone while the active zone door set is electrically locked for safety.
TEACH PENDANT
A hand-held, hard wired Teach Pendant consisting of a hand pulse generator, 3 illuminated function select keys, and two rotary switches is also provided. This device enables the user to generate part programs quickly through the manual "Teach-In" feature of the controller. The pendant's 9 multi function buttons include TP-On/Off, Pushbutton Tool Change, Part Program Reference/Set Zero, Line Mode Digitizing, Arc Mode Digitizing, Enter/Select, and auxiliary function keys F1, F2, & F3. The primary rotary switch allows one to select the active job axis whether linear X, Y, Z, or rotary B, C. Three hand pulse job increments can also be selected including 1X, 1OX, and 1OOX move per HPG increment. A second rotary switch allows the operator to select the active digitizing plane. The entire pendant meets both European and American safety requirements providing both an E-stop drop-out push-button as well as dual hand enable switches to prevent inadvertent axes motion.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The machine is wired for 480 Volts, 3 phase, 60 Hz delta or wye input power. The main electrical cabinet is supplied with a main non fused disconnect, distributed power for ancillary equipment and a integrated air conditioning unit for continuous cooling of the electrical equipment. Input voltage must be nominally 10% of machine rated voltage. A 5 KVA 480 VAC step down isolation transformer is provided for component demand, protection, and easy integration into customer's existing 480 volt electrical service. An additional single-phase, 120 VAC secondary tap is also provided for system 1/0. The electrical cabinet is located on the right side of the machine when looking at the front view.
