Basic Overview and Features
Machine base, Column, and way unit, are constructed from high quality thermal stress relieved weldments. Internal ribs provide a stable and rigid base.
Way systems consist of precision crossed roller type ways and bearing blocks. Mounting surfaces are hand scraped and ways are laser aligned.
Fixture table, is constructed from high quality thermal stress relieved weldment. Precision machined table with locating keys and T-slots. Table is floor mounted.
Spindle is manufactured from high quality alloy steel, heat-treated and precision ground, mounted in class #7 bearings and automatically lubricated. Spindle is laser aligned parallel to ways and centered to chipbox.
Spindle drive, is provided by a 7.5 HP. AC Vector drive motor with variable speed. Power transmission is provided by toothed gear belts and pulleys.
Feeds are provided by ballscrews, DC servo motors, toothed gear belts and pulleys providing feed rates to 24” inches per minute with rapid traverse.
Chipbox is laser aligned parallel to ways and centered to spindle. A pneumatic bushing carrier with 1.00" travel is mounted to the front of the chip box. Chips and coolant exit from the bottom to a trough under the drilling unit to the chip conveyor. One set of bearing carriers is included to cover complete range from .187 to .750 diameter.
Automatic lubrication is provided to the spindle and ballscrews. Ways are grease lubricated manually once every 6 months or 1000 hr. of operation.
Whip guides or vibration dampers provide support for long drills preventing whip, sag and vibration. Open tops allow for faster tool changes. An automatic retract and positioning system returns the whip guides to preset positions at the end of each drilling cycle. Additional whip guides may be necessary depending on diameter to length ratio of holes to be drilled.
Coolant filtration system has a total capacity of 250 gallons with two separate reservoirs, one for contaminated return coolant and one for clean filtered coolant. The high-pressure pump system consists of a 20 HP. AC motor driving a 20 GPM high pressure pump. Filtration is accomplished through a centrifugal pump which pumps contaminated coolant from the return reservoir to the supply reservoir through two 5-micron disposable bag type filters. A water/Oil shell tube heat exchanger is provided as standard equipment to maintain coolant at safe operating temperature.

Electrical system utilizes a Heidenhain TNC 310 CNC control. This is a compact contouring control for drilling machines with 3 controlled axes. The control is workshop oriented using the Heidenhain interactive plain language dialog, or it can be programmed using standard ISO M and G codes. Standard features include:

A Nema 12 enclosure houses all motor starters, fuses, disconnect, ect. Maximum travel limit switches to prevent over travel on all axes. An over head pendant type operator station with display and drill condition monitor to shut down machine in the case of dull or broken drills. The control monitors critical machine functions, coolant pressure and air pressure.
Positioning of all axes are controlled by DC servo driven ballscrews and linear scales.

Requirements for CPK and PPK
If CPK or PPK requirements are part of the quotation or subsequent accepted order, the customer parts must be produced to the same ratings by numeric value and terminology.
Note: Technidrill’s High-Pressure coolant systems are designed primarily for oil based coolants. Production rates and or tool life predictions are based on using cutting oil. If water soluble coolants must be used please advise Technidrill before or at time of purchase.
